This is the 1934 Roadplane. You know how when most cars drive at speed, they generate lift? And you know how most cars generally try to l imit that? Well, NOT THIS ONE! This one was designed by an aeronautical expert named T. Edward Moodie, who thought it would be a good idea to design a car in such a way that once it gets up to a certain speed, the front wheel lifts up off the ground, so that the vehicle is balancing on just the two rear wheels  with a giant, airplane-style elevator controlling this.  At this point, the vehicle is steered using those two giant, airplane-style rudders, and that makes it efficient or something, I guess?

I should hope this has independent brakes for each wheel, otherwise no turns from a stop...

Maybe, although that makes the thought of stopping  terrifying. Maybe it’s front wheel is steered somehow? or perhaps the rudders are supposed to be just good enough to make it turn from a stop? Who knows.

Not so terrifying, that’s how brakes on planes are set up.  But looking at the pic, there could be a steering mechanism on the nose wheel...

You could  turn from a stop with the nose wheel.

This is, in general, a really bad idea. The tires must provide traction in order to turn efficiently. Taken to the extreme, you have the turning ability of a hovercraft.
